Agent Conversion
Benchmark research run — D-001How this was measured

Website: www.digitalocean.com

Task: Starting from the homepage, find the official self-service route for a new customer to begin using the product. Follow the correct signup, free-plan or trial path until the next action would create an account, submit personal information, authorize an external identity provider or initiate payment. Stop before performing that irreversible action.

Task result

From the homepage the signup CTA was located and followed to the registration URL, but the registration page was blocked by Cloudflare and displayed a “You have been blocked” message. Because the registration form was not accessible the signup flow could not be completed in this session.

Agent steps

  1. Navigated to https://www.digitalocean.com/

  2. Observed the page.

  3. Clicked an element on the page.

  4. Observed the page.

  5. Finished the audit.

What worked

  • The homepage contains a visible 'Sign up' call-to-action in the main navigation.
  • Clicking the Sign up CTA from the homepage navigated to the registration URL for new accounts.

Where it struggled

  • The registration page is blocked by a Cloudflare block page that displays 'Sorry, you have been blocked,' preventing access to the signup form.

Recommendations

  • Allow the registration page to be reachable without presenting an insurmountable block page for legitimate users and automated testers; ensure bot-mitigation challenges are solvable in common browsers and do not entirely block normal signup traffic.
  • Provide a clear fallback or alternate signup route (for example, an in-domain signup page or a plain HTML form) and a visible support/contact link on the block page so blocked users know how to proceed.
  • Log and monitor occurrences of this blocking behavior on the registration endpoint and add diagnostics (including challenge type and frequency) so you can tune mitigation rules without preventing legitimate signups.
